A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

Hello!

I’m Rachit and I’m passionate about technology driven measurable growth. A computer science engineer by education, I studied algorithm implementation in my final year of college, which made me fall in love with the impact it would go on to have on the way companies grow. As part of my bachelor's thesis, I went on to work on an algorithm that would allow companies to optimize marketing campaigns on the basis of conversions (and not clicks and impressions, as was the norm in those days) inspired by the issues that an acquaintance’s startup was facing.

Right after graduation, I took up a job with the Tata Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates, as a consultant helping group companies and clients with digitization. This helped me understand how big a problem this was and made me aware of the issues that larger companies face when it comes to high speed growth. I wanted to move to digital marketing but since I had no formal experience, was unable to. Almost a year later, someone reached out to me because they wanted to build an affiliate marketing network and needed somebody with experience in ad technology to help build their growth team.

I joined his mission, as part of his founding team, and in the following years, went on to build India’s largest affiliate marketing network, GrabOn, with more than 150 clients (including the likes of Uber and Amazon) and 5 million monthly active users.

The second thing that I am extremely passionate about, is solving problems and I knew that I would want to tackle a real life problem with my next stint. India is one of the world’s most credit starved countries with most banks not giving loans to anyone without a credit score. After GrabOn, I joined Finomena in their founding team and raised 1.5 million USD from Matrix Partners in order to build technology around solving that particular problem. We scaled the platform to bring in the largest banks and financial corporations to lend money to consumers on the basis of our own digitally generated credit score. I built a team that grew our app to more than 500000 downloads from scratch in record time and best in class Customer Acquisition Cost increasing loan disbursals to more than 150,000 EUR per month for which we were awarded the fastest growing mobile company in India title by the leading technology journal. Approximately a year after we started, our technology was acquired and I started looking for my next problem to solve.

This is when Wunder reached out to me. They had recently launched a carpooling platform and were extremely passionate about making cities better and healthier by providing sustainable mobility solutions. Having spent parts of my life in some of the most congested and polluted cities in the world such as New Delhi, Mumbai and New York, I resonated with this problem more than any other and decided to join them in their mission. Over the last three years, I have gone on to launch and scale operations on ground, build a marketing team from scratch, launch six new products, across six continents and scale the platform with a global marketing strategy that would help the company grow to over eight-digit-figure in annual revenues as of last year. I started with 3 people and went on to lead a marketing team of 20+ encompassing various skills to execute a highly ROI driven growth strategy.

Most recently, I launched #WeAllMove, a global movement in partnership with the World Economic Forum to aid in the movement of essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The movement can be accessed on weallmove.co and is an official part of the Forum’s Global COVID-19 Action Platform encompassing over 65 operators on more than 200 cities on 6 continents.

I consider myself to be an expert at combining aspirational communication/content while creating growth loops in customer journeys to create self optimising funnels thereby improving conversion rates. This maximises return on investment which feeds into my passion of transforming marketing from traditionally being a cost centre into a revenue generating engine.

I am extremely passionate about startups and technology driven solutions which is what led me to establish the Hamburg chapter of the Founder Institute. This is also why, in addition to my full-time responsibilities, I choose to devote some of my spare time helping others solve issues that I've faced in my experience. If you need help, reach out and we'll figure something out!
